Branchville Fun Day

Throngs enjoy Holiday Fun Day in Branchville

An initiative to restore Branchville's Christmas parade grew into the Branchville Holiday Fun Day on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014.

The day's events began with a community yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon at Branch Junction and continued throughout the day with children's activities, bingo, tree decorating and entertainment by community groups, including the Raylrode Daze Festivul's Can-Can Girls and the Gunfighters.

A late-afternoon parade brought Santa Claus to town to visit with the young and the young-at-heart.

The day concluded with the lighting of the Christmas tree in front of the Railroad Shrine & Museum and the decorating of the Christmas tree at Town Hall by area children.

What would a Branchville festival be like without an appearance by the Raylrode Daze gunfighters? The "bad guys" are shown being caught in the act of stealing Christmas presents intended for children at the orphanage. Of course the sheriff and his deputy -- and the audience -- won't let them get away with that!
