At their regular monthly meeting Monday, August 10, 2015, the Branchville Town Council approved a request from the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg & Calhoun Counties to spend nearly $10,000 on improvements to the building that houses the Branchville HealthPlex. The council also extended the hospital's lease of the property for another two years, The Times and Democrat reported.
The Council also gave second reading to an ordinance including the town's largest employer, Branchville Wood Products, in a multi-county industrial park for property tax purposes. In return, the company will install more environmentally friendly production equipment.
The Council approved a mutual aid agreement with the Bowman Police Department.
The Council also voted to spend $1,600 to clean up after this year's Raylrode Daze Festivul in late September; $500 for food for visiting law officers patrolling the festival; $525 on a projector and screen for Movie Nights and for presentations in Council chambers; $265 a year for data security enhancements; and $100 to repaint Christmas toy donation boxes.
